Fibonacci’s newly launched Chiquita archtop is aiming for an under-exploited sector of the guitar market – the aspiring player more familiar with playing a smaller, solid bodied guitar, who finds him or herself venturing into the world of jazz archtops. Equally, Fibonacci says, the guitar will appeal to the traditional jazz player who may find handling a larger archtop cumbersome.

The Fibonacci Chiquita is completely hand carved using a 35mm, AAA solid select American spruce sound-board and solid flame maple back & sides. Despite being only 13” at the lower bout, the Chiquita has plenty of volume acoustically, the maker says. This is achieved as a result of its substantially arched top and back, which are hand carved all the way into the cut-away.

‘These arched designs are only achievable when carved by hand. These arches allow the Chiquita to achieve its dynamic tones which are comparable to much larger bodied archtops,’ Fibonacci says.

The arched body is completed using a 628mm scaled, one-piece flame maple neck, with fingerboard, finger-rest, floating bridge and tailpiece all in solid Indian ebony. The Chiquita is fitted with a black floating, Kent Armstrong ‘Slimbucker’ humbucker. The Chiquita is available in natural blonde, honey, sienna or mint nitrocellulose lacquer, with solid maple binding and black or gold Gotoh SGS510Z tuners.

All of Fibonacci guitars are assembled, painted, nitrocellulose lacquered, and completely hand finished in the UK using shielded, steel braided cabling and only the finest components for increased performance and stability, the company says.
