Meet Richard Okkerse, who is our Fibonacci Agent in Portugal. Born and raised in the Netherlands, Richard got his degree in Jazz Guitar and Composition from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam where he studied with the likes of Jesse van Ruller, Martijn van Iterson, Maarten van der Grinten, Ed Verhoeff, Martien Oster and Leonardo Amuedo. He also attended masterclasses with Peter Bernstein, Biréli Lagrène, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ben Monder, Helmut Kagerer, Larry Coryell, Adam Rogers, Steve Cardenas, Tuck Andress, Russell Malone, John Scofield, Philip Catherine, Scott Henderson, among others. Richard was part of the "Nationale Nederlanden Big Band" as well as other ensembles and projects during his studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. As a musician he has toured all over Europe for over two decades, both as a leader and sideman in various groups and projects. Richard is currently a professor of jazz guitar at two colleges of music in Portugal and continues to perform with his quartet among other projects.
